What's in a name?

You've probably heard of the Fortune Cookie game – add 'in bed' to the end of any fortune from a cookie to make it more exciting. Well, I'm hoping that my love of books and beautiful writing will help me cope with chronic migraines.

'We don't need sugar to live.' – Mehmet Oz

Usually I have cereal and yogurt for breakfast. Twice in the last two weeks I've had an especially sugary breakfast, then got a migraine by mid-morning. I mentioned this to a dietician friend and she confirmed that sugar is often a trigger, especially for people who are on the cusp of a migraine, as I perpetually am. It's not good to get a migraine, but it is good to learn more triggers. Unfortunately I will have to rein in my sweet tooth.

  1. You could try using Stevia as your sweetener in tea etc. I believe it's the only alternative sweetener that doesn't affect your blood sugar levels. You can reduce sugars in baked goods, or anything you consume if you do it gradually, letting your tastebuds adapt. You may be surprised at how quickly you can get used to a less sweet taste!

    1. You're right. It's all about finding those alternatives, since will power (mine at least) isn't very reliable.
